[ the necklace is cool against her skin, found again and locked around her neck - she remembers nothing for the second, third night; a terrible blank for the first, second week, and the third.

but by the fourth, she begins to remember. snippets, images that didn't belong in her memory. out of time, out of place. fifth week, and she remembers what he's said to her, remembers the necklace he clasps around her neck and the way he forces her to forget. elena remembers the tear, the confession and the uncharacteristic pain she saw in those dark eyes. and perhaps this is why she's here on his doorstep, fiddling with her necklace and at a loss as to why she is really here, ringing the doorbell. she loves stefan, right? it's stefan, it's always been stefan, even if she had rejected him in favor of her family.

not damon, not him, especially not his cruelty, his indecipherable nature, his confessions, the way he had wormed himself, bit by bit, into her heart despite her best defences --

-- and she thinks that she should go now, before anyone answers the door. ]

[ someone's moody.

damon steps aside when elena moves forward, sweeping one hand toward the grand hallway as a melodramatic way of welcoming her into his humble abode as she brushes past. but he's interested now -- it's not often that elena has anything (positive) to say to him, so he shuts the door with one foot and follows closely at her heels, tossing stefan's diary aside. ]

Should I break out the pillows and marshmallows? We could have a sleepover.
